Our Propane Conversion Kit
Fourth(IV) GENERATION - Propane Injection System
IV generation propane injection systems are designed for vehicles with fuel injection. They can also be used when the vehicles electronic systems ECU are complex and sensitive to any interference. They are one of the most modern systems in which propane injectors are used, dosing propane similarly as in the case of gasoline. Each injector of this kind of installation serves one engine cylinder thanks to which driving on propane basically does not differ from driving on gasoline. Installations of this type are usually fully automatic- even when there is no propane in the tank, the engine automatically switches to gasoline.
How does it work? Liquid propane runs from the tank to the reducer through the liquid state filter and solenoid valve, which is open only when the engine runs on propane. propane pressure is reduced in a one stage reducer; propane evaporates (transforms from liquid to propaneeous state) and in this state supplies the injector's rail. Between the reducer and the injector's rail an additional propane filter is installed. It keeps propane injectors clean. The engine is usually started on gasoline and automatically switches to propane after it obtains programmed in ECU AUTOpropane parameters such as: speed, temperature, etc. In the moment of switching fuel injectors are switched off and propane injectors are switched on. propane dosage is controlled by the technically advanced ECU directly cooperating with gasoline control system ECU, which as the primary unit has the main influence on the engine working on propane. Both cooperating systems decide about the moment and time of the injection- proper propane dosage in a proper time of the engine cycle. Gas propane is injected to the cylinders sequentially.
